Google sitemaps

A Google sitemap allows website owners to submit a master list of their site pages to Google for indexing. It can be as simple as a list of URL's belonging to the site, or can include, last modified date, update frequency, and priority. The purpose of this sitemap is to have the most recent version of pages and URLs in Google at all times.

Sitemaps can generally help any site needing to be indexed by Google. This should reduce the amount of time before it is initially indexed as well as facilitate indexing over time.

In most cases this will not improve your rankings - but it helps. By having the most current version of your site in Google's index, this can speed up your movement in the results pages. This is because if you make an update to a page for optimization purposes, Google's index will have this page updated more quickly than without the XML sitemap.

This is a lot of detail that you may not fully understand. But please know that having a sitemap is better than not having one.

WebCubic now automatically provides a sitemap of your website if you are using the Chelsea-2 template. In addition to this feature, here are the unique capabilities of the Chelsea-2 template not found in other designs.
