Register or not to register?
While there are valid points-of-view on both sides of the question "register or not to register", here are some comments that we found in a recent posting at www.raintoday.com.- "Research from MarketingSherpa (8/10/2005) shows that if you require visitors to register on your website before they are allowed to download content, such as articles, white papers, studies, or other "free" resources, you could be losing 75 to 85 percent of your potential leads!"
- "The statistics show that trying to get too much information too soon simply scares people away."
By the term "register" we mean asking the website visitor to fill out a form before allowing them to view information. While it makes sense to ask for contact data in an effort to capture leads, it makes no sense when the majority will just exit the website.
