A new playing field

Any target real estate market - minority, ethnic, seniors, women - requires attentive adjustments to their way of shopping, decision making, and buying. The results can be very good.

We recently posted an article addressing the increasing number of women as consumers in the real estate market. Let's use that as an example.

What do we know about women? They enjoy sharing experiences and stories and comparing notes. The communication patterns are different than males.

An article in Realty Success offered some tips to real esate professionals:

- use active-listening skills. Women often complain that they are "not heard" or understood. Take time to learn more about your female prospects.

- women will take more time in the sales process, so learn to be patient. Along the way, exceed her expectations and build a relationship through loyalty and referrals.

- establish trust with your female clients. Respond to phone calls and emails. Proactively call her - possibly quarterly. Create 15 to 30 contacts throughout the year - use newsletters, emails, telephone, greeting cards.
