MailTo protocol issues
WebCubic uses the "MailTo" protocol to handle email requests. For example, when the website visitor clicks on the email address, a email client window opens and the visitor can create an email note.For most users, the "MailTo" protocol works without problems because a local email client (like MS Outlook or Outlook Express) is available. In some cases, machines are setup with an Internet based email client only. In other words, Yahoo Mail is used and there is no sign of MS Outlook.
In these cases, the default email client on the Windows "Start Up Menu" must be changed to Internet email client. Here's how to do that.
- RIGHT click on an empty area of the taskbar
- click "Properties"
- in the "Show on Start Menu" area, click on "E-mail"
- from the drop down list, select the program for the "email links"
That's it.
