Fonts
One of the features that WebCubic template website owners have is to be able to define fonts for various areas of the website. For example the contact information area and the personal news areas can have their own font definitions. For our custom website owners, fonts can be defined however the user wishes.
This is good from the standpoint of flexibility. You can use whatever fonts you wish. However for readibility, most designers recommend using Times New Roman, Arial, and Verdana. Tahoma is also an acceptable font.
Using other fonts is problematic because some computers do not have all fonts available. For example, you may like the Maltese font and for your website it actually looks acceptable. However on computers that do not have those font definitions, the browser must default to something else. Whatever it defaults to will change your intended appearance of the website. It is best to use the common fonts recommended in the previous paragraphs.
In areas where you may have graphic images, the text there can be whatever you like because it is displayed as a graphic file. In the header of the custom websites, many users like script or other very custom fonts. As a graphic file it is always properly displayed on other computers.
One last note, you should resist the temptation to use a lot of different fonts on the same page. This takes on a distracting appearance. It is generally best to use only one font style. Be consistent.
