Website tip #5-24 (search engines)
FIRST in a series on search engine optimization. In an effort to educate our website owners on search engines, we are going to publish small articles right here from time-to-time on matters that impact search engines. This is the first of the series.
There are literally thousands of search engines available on the Internet. As a part of our process, we submit to 26 (or thereabouts, the number changes from time-to-time) free search engines to start propagating your domain name as rapidly as possible.
However, the three most important ones are MSN, Yahoo, and Google. These three search engines handle about 90% of all Internet searches. Early on, we hand submit to these three search engines. Generally, MSN will start to show some results within two weeks. Yahoo takes a little longer -- we estimate approximate four weeks. Google is the slowest so don't expect results for as much as three to four months.
In summary, the initial steps for submitting your domain to the search engines is handled by WebCubic.
