Apple iPhone is on the way

Yesterday, Apple announced its iPhone to be available in June. Steve Jobs did his usual exciting presentation in making this announcement. Apple forecasted that 10 million iPhones would be sold in 2008 - assuming that Apple will capture only 1% of the mobile phones sold each year.

Cingular has a "multiyear" exclusive service carrier agreement.

Immediately afterwards, share prices for RIM and Palm fell.

Apple critics have expressed concern about

- It is extensible only by Apple. That means at the moment no RSS readers and no Slingplayers
- There is no support for Microsoft Office attachments
- It is not clear how well Exchange will work with calendar and contacts

We'll hear more soon.
