Foreclosure data from SoCal MLS IDX data feed

We have been asked by many of our clients as well as prospects if we provide foreclosure information as part of our IDX service for CrisNET MLS (the data feed comes from SoCal MLS). We've been technically unable to do so because the data feed does not have sufficient information to do this. That has always been the simple answer.

One of our clients expressed the other day to us "I want to show foreclosures on my website. You guys (meaning WebCubic) need to do this and soon! Everyone else is doing it".

So we had an email dialog with one of the managers at SoCal MLS and learned this:

At this time vendors are prohibited from disclosing these types of listings [REO, bank owned, foreclosure]. We are currently reviewing this issue and hope to have a decision by Aug. 1st.

A reasonable solution would be to search for terms like "foreclosure" in the database.

“foreclosure” shouldn’t be in the description of a listing for it is in violation of the MLS rules.

At this time the data feed from SoCal MLS should not contain any data that would allow us to show foreclosure type of properties. In addition it is prohibited by MLS rules.

Stand by for additional updates in our continuing dialog.
