Implement a blog

We have been mentioning for some time now that blogs are a good way to draw interest to your real estate websites and, in general, help your search engine performance. One of our clients in Seal Beach, CA is Vanessa (not her real name, we will conceal her identity to protect the innocent) has said for some time that she wants a blog but has never quite gotten around to it.

In early December, Vanessa began her blog using www.wordpress.com. In addition to a few articles, she mentioned her website and other information about her real estate business.

In the early and middle part of December, Seal Beach had two major events that were documented in the blog. The first was some unusually high surf along the Southern California coastline. This represented a threat to Seal Beach because of the low lying beaches and homes. A berm was constructed by the city of Seal Beach in an effort to protect these low lying areas.

The other event was a fire on Main Street next to the Bank of America.

Vanessa wrote about both of these events in her blog.

The interesting result was that a Google search on terms such as "fire in Seal Beach" and "berm in Seal Beach" showed Vanessa's blog as #1 and #5 respectively. When a visitor clicked on either of those results, they also learned about her website.

These visitors may not have had any interest in real estate, but if they did, they were invited to her website to search for properties. Partly because of this blog, her website improved from position 600 to 165. The site was optimized in late November and only now moving up in Google. By the way, her site is at position 3 at MSN (the highest rated individual website) and 13 at Yahoo.

WebCubic's optimization efforts less than a month ago is starting to show positive results, but the addition of the blog has also boosted her search engine performance.

The moral of the story is implement a blog. If you're not sure how, give us a call.
