Improving your website content
An Internet marketing ideaWe have often explained the value of having good content on your website. Not only does it engage the visitor, but it also is key to good search engine results. We've mentioned content that is needed as "calls to action".
But we've not said very much about the text of those comments. However we've visited a large number of successful websites and read a lot of information from others who understand the value of good content.
We'd like to mention two of them here.
"I" versus "you"
We continue to believe that visitors need to know about you, however most visitors enter a website with expectation of learning what you can do for them. It makes sense to write your content so that it focuses on the benefits to the reader.
Do this my fashioning your content to say "you will learn ..." or "you will find that ...". Include benefits like "you will enjoy clean clothing without polluting the environment" or "how to save money when you purchase your new home".
Create an action-oriented headline
You have a visitor to your website. Give them a reason to read further. Pique their interest in what you have to offer. But don't do this with extremely large font sizes or obnoxious colors or upper case text.
You can use the "slogan" field for your headline.
Take time to keep your content fresh and current.
