Domain name scams
We were reminded recently that "domain name scams" are still being operated. We're talking about companies that send emails to owners of domain names that will expire in the next several months. The owners are informed of this and are urged to accept the option to renew now at a special price (significantly higher than any other price) and their domain names will be transferred under their control.Some owners accept these offers thinking that is the normal renewal process. But it's not - it is a scam. Some owners have called us asking about such offers thinking that we were the source. We have explained to them what the offer is and, as a result, the owners were spared much grief.
Fortunately the transaction cannot be completed because the domain name must be "released" by the administrators - for website owners who acquired their domain names through us, we are the administrators. We will not release any domain name for transfer unless you contact us and instruct us to do so.
Be careful. There are many scam artists wanting your money and business and are willing to do that without ethics.
