Optimizing images
Especially for our custom website customers, there is more and more use of graphics on websites. The challenge is how to optimize the usage of these graphics. If possible, use a descriptive filename (including your keyword) for the graphic image. Rather than use img101.jpg, use some more descriptive like screenprint-apparel.jpg.
Use a direct link to the graphical image. For example, when you publish a press release include a graphic with it. That link in the article will be a direct link to the graphic image on your website.
Use the [alt] tag that includes keywords associated with your image. There have been many comments about the value of doing this, but it appears that it does make a small positive impact on SEO.
Use a meaningful caption with the graphic. Here is another opportunity to include your keywords for search engines to find.
NOTE: These comments will be particularly helpful to our custom website customers. There is less capability to name graphic files when using our template websites. Many of those graphic images are automatically named.
