Gallery page and large photos
Most of our website customers use the gallery page formats for such things as customer testimonials, featured listings, sold properties, office agents, and business associates. These are among the many reasons that we designed this page format to display. In the meantime, technology for digital cameras has advanced where photos are typically 2, 3, or more megabytes. As a result some users have had some problems uploading these photos. We wanted to offer these suggestions in view of this emerging technology shift.
1. Our product has no difficulty in handling larger photos. We can do it - it just takes a longer time. Longer because of the larger files and limited at times by the ISP or network that our customers are using. We suggest you resize the photo so that it is no larger than 100k - that should be sufficient.
2. Regardless of the number of gallery page rows that are being added or the size of the photo files being uploaded, the update may take time - a minute, two, perhaps more. Do not interrupt the updating process. Unfortunately when users interrupt the updating process, unexpected events take place - the worst being that rows of the gallery page are "lost". Be patient. Let the process complete.
We encourage the use of the gallery pages. We allow up to five such pages for a website and we hope in the future to make in unlimited. Just remember the tips published above.
What about using videos? We like that. More about that in another post.
